Team Free Form Fitness Knows How to Create Success
Our leadership team is home of some of the sharpest minds in the health club industry. The combined resumes of the executive team boast extensive skills in all areas of marketing, operations, finance and customer service. You’ll experience the expertise and knowledge of these individuals as soon as you become a Free Form Fitness franchise partner.
JEAN-LUC BOISSONNEAULT, CEO and Co-Founder
Jean-Luc Boissonneault has been the face, and the body, of Free Form Fitness since its inception. His focus is to hire only the best personal trainers for his clients. An international athlete, a tireless advocate for achieving one’s personal best and a savvy businessman, Jean-Luc has helped grow FFF from a single location to a recognized fitness brand in Ottawa and beyond. He has always felt the need to help people, motivated by the desire to make a difference rather than just make money. He began as a self-employed personal trainer in Ottawa at the age of 17. His clientele soon grew to include successful business people, who inspired him to learn about what it takes to build a successful business, and how to become a businessperson. With the support and encouragement of these mentors, he and wife Chelsea opened the first Free Form Fitness location in 2006.
Jean-Luc is the winner of the 40 Under 40 business award and the winner of the Faces Magazine Entrepreneur of the Year award.
CHELSEA BOISSONNEAULT, CFO and Co-Founder
Chelsea Boissonneault’s passion for health and fitness is evident in her work as a trainer, entrepreneur and competitor. She, along with husband Luc, co-founded Free Form Fitness in 2006. In 2010, Chelsea took on the challenge of running the regional OPA shows which take place twice a year. Chelsea has competed in figure and bikini competitions, and taken home regional trophies. Inside Fitness Magazine has named her a hot and fit finalist for four consecutive years, and she has published more than 10 articles in various fitness magazines. In the personal training studio, Chelsea helps clients prepare for competition by focusing on the fundamentals, with natural and organic nutrition and well-rounded workout programs. She doesn’t hesitate to be honest with clients about where they are and what more they must do to achieve their goals.
ASHLEY-ANN LAWRIE, Director of Licensing
Ashley began working part-time with Free Form Fitness in 2007 at the behest of her brother, founder Jean-Luc Boissonneault, while still pursuing a business diploma at Algonquin College. She quickly moved into a full-time managerial role, and today serves as president, keeping the business of FFF in top shape at all locations. Ashley often draws upon past work experience, in high-end salons and spas, for inspiration on how to take that model for exceptional, personalized service and apply it in the personal training environment. A plaque on the wall outside of her office that quotes 19th century English statesman Edward Stanley, 15th Earl of Derby, sums up her view on the importance of living a fit and healthy lifestyle: “Those who think they have no time for bodily exercise will sooner or later have to find time for illness.” Now she takes on the consulting aspect of Director of Licensing to help Licensee’s reach their full potential.
